The Chronicler's Notes - April 14, 2014 - Public Appearance!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to another week at Chronicle!    This week, I've got an announcement about my first public appearance and some quick updates about what we've got going on here related to the appearance.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!

MAY 3RD, 2014

I'll be appearing at Rick's Comic City in Nashville, TN starting at 10am.  I'll be giving out minicomics, doing sketches for people, and saying hi to Nashville's growing comics community!

I may have some Character Codex freebies and merch as well!

On a related note, let me just say that if you haven't been to a Free Comic Book Day event before, you need to find one.  This is one of those days where comic geeks can fly their flag proudly and the buzz is always so positive.  Find one near you if you can.  They are so much fun and you'll get some great deals and get to meet some neat people as well.

So, come on out and say hi!  You'll be supporting not only me, but the comics community, and in particular, a really great comic shop that knows what their comic fans want!

I mentioned on Friday, that things would be shifting towards Chronicle art for the next few weeks leading up to Free Comic Book Day.  That's going to be the case for a couple of the features on the site for the next few weeks.  The main reason for this is I need to get some nice promo images going that I can show off at my table.  So here are a couple of changes for the rest of the month:

First, as I said before, Fun Art Friday is going to be Chronicle based for a few weeks.  I love drawing other characters besides my own, but I want to be able to show off my cast as well.

Second, The World of Chronicle, is going to be more art-focused and less story-focused for awhile.  You'll see some concept art and maybe some background stuff as well.  However, please do check out last week's short story about the adventurers that appeared in last week's strip.  Those characters are based on one of my old gaming groups and I love writing them.  They're going to be part of the Chronicle plot coming up and I'm planning on doing a few more stories with them later on this year.

The main comic and the Character Codex are not going to change, although I will say that any fans of the original Chronicle will want to check out the Character Codex this week for a couple of surprises!

Have a great week!

The Chronicler's Notes - Two Months In! - March 31, 2014

Hey everyone!  Welcome to another week at Chronicle!

Thalin, leader of the Lower Haven Thieves' Guild

Thalin, leader of the Lower Haven Thieves' Guild

I've got some good stuff planned for you this week, so please check back every weekday for new content!  Also, as a treat here's a peek at the, as of yet, unseen Thalin.  We'll get to him next week.

I want to take a moment and thank you guys for stopping by over the past two months.  I really didn't expect such a reception and I want to express my gratitude.

For those curious in stats, we just passed 7,000 page views and 3500 unique visits!  I feel like that's huge for only being two months old.  So, thanks so much for showing up!  It looks like some people like Chronicle enough to keep coming back.  I'm averaging around 40 direct links on Wednesday and Thursday.  Those are, of course, Character Codex and Comic updates.  I can't believe how much the Character Codex has taken off!  If you guys stay interested, I'll definitely do the other half with the genders flipped.

For those of you new to the site let me give you a quick run-down of the schedule.

Mondays - The Chronicler's Notes - This blog, where you'll get updates from me about what I'm up to, how the site's going, and where we're headed.

Tuesday - The World of Chronicle - This is where I take the opportunity to let you step into the world of the comic a bit more.  Whether it be background information about what you're seeing, RPG material, or short fiction based in the world, Tuesdays are where I flex my world-building muscles.

Wednesday - Character Codex - My continuing project through the classic races and classes of fantasy RPGs.  There are 77 combinations and we're only through 13 so far!

If you haven't seen them yet, there are Virtual Tabletop Tokens based on the Character Codex.  The Dwarf Pack (which includes all 11 dwarves and one bonus bearded bard) is now up for sale at low price of 99 cents!

Thursday - Chronicle - The main feature of the site is the comic.  The comic is currently following Autumn, a young thief who is dealing with magical powers she can't seem to control.

Friday - Fun Art Friday - This is where I draw whatever I feel like drawing.  Most of the time it is something completely "un-Chronicle".  Whether it be characters from other genres or commissions (which, I am currently accepting) you'll see what else I can do, every Friday!

The Chronicler's Notes - Elves! - March 24th, 2014

Welcome to another week at Chronicle!  If you've just discovered our site through some of our new advertising partners, please take a moment to look around!  There's something for everyone.

This week kicks off our Month of Elves!  We've now met Elysia in the comic and we're moving into the Elves section of the Character Codex.  Also, over in the World of Chronicle, we're detailing the nuances of the two predominant elven cultures.  Last week, we learned about the Celasyn.  This week we'll learn about the Sayesyn, or wild elves.

The Chronicler's Notes - Name That Rogue Contest Deadline Extended - March 17, 2014

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here's what's happening this week at Chronicle!

Name That Rogue Contest Deadline Extended

There was a problem with the submission form last week that resulted in entrant data being lost.  If you entered the contest, please resubmit your entry HERE.  Because of this, the deadline has been pushed back to 11:59 CST tonight.  So you have one more day to name those rogues for a chance to win a free full-color commissioned character drawing of your choice.  Keep in mind that the character doesn't have to be fantasy based.  I will draw any character or person you want - superheroes, sci-fi, cartoons, historical figures, a caricature of you, whatever you want.

Tuesday - The Elves of Chronicle - Part 1

This week in The World of Chronicle we'll start to delve into the elves of Chronicle.  Part 1 will explore the Celesyn, or high elves, of Chronicle.

Wednesday - Character Codex Dwarves Finishing Up - Virtual Tabletop Token Pack to Follow

This week, the dwarves of the Character Codex will be finishing up.  A female sorcerer and a male wizard will round us out.  Virtual Tabletop tokens will go up for them the same day.  The dwarf tokens will stay up for a week and then the whole set will come down when the elves go up.  A downloadable pack of all 11 dwarves will follow shortly after.

Thursday - Chronicle Strip 9

In the Comic this week, Autumn and Elysia discuss the encounter with the Slumripper.

Friday - Fun Art Friday

People seemed to like the Nausicaa drawing from last week.  Let's see where my brain will wander this week!

As always, please share, re-tweet, and like on your social media site of choice.  Feel free to leave a comment to let me know how I'm doing.  If you like what I'm doing please consider buying a commission, leaving a tip, or clicking an ad.
